There are many careers within the golf industry that one can attain upon graduating from the Professional Golfers Career College. Please note these are generic descriptions and actual positions will vary based on a number of variables, such as the type of golf club you’re employed at, whether it’s a public or private course, where the golf course is located, etc.

Head Golf Professionals
As a Head Golf Professional you’ll be responsible for the overall management of golf operations at the golf club. You will supervise and direct golf shop operations as well as oversee instructors and run teaching groups. You’ll work with other departments such as the greenskeeping staff to maintain, upkeep and develop the course in order to bring the guests the best experience possible. Other responsibilities could include overseeing and assisting in club repair and custom fitting services. Along with administration duties of the golf club, tournament organization and supervising special events, such as corporate days and pro-ams. Work proactively in relationship management of the golf club with the goal to retain customers and attract new members.
Assistant Golf Professionals
An Assistant Golf Professional works directly under the guidance of the Head Golf Professional and assists in everyday golf operations at the golf club. As the Assistant Golf Professional you will be responsible for managing and supervising all golf operations when the Head Golf Professional is absent. Responsibilities include providing advice for customers in product selection, maintaining upkeep of the golf shop, and golf shop inventory management. You’ll also be in charge of organizing and giving individual and group lessons, assist in tournament organization, and work on club repairs and custom fitting.
Directors of Golf
The Director of Golf oversees the total golf operation and services offered at the golf club, including the golf shop, golf range, golf services areas, golf car operations, and supervises the Head Golf Professional. With the goal of providing an exceptional experience for the golfer and maximize facility revenue, the Director of Golf provides strategic planning for sales and marketing opportunities for the golf club.
General Managers
General Managers will be responsible for the entire golf facility, including course maintenance, golf operations, club house administration, and food and beverage operation. The General Manager provides support and supervision to all department heads. Oversees product quality and maintains standard of service to provide quality customer care. Ensures the security and protection of the facility’s assets. Actively involved to uphold the relationships between the facility and its patrons, employees, Board of Directors, the community, government and industry.
Directors of Instruction
The Director of Instruction is responsible for the entire teaching program at the golf facility, including organizing, budgeting, developing, promoting, scheduling and conducting golf instructional programs. Works with the Head Golf Professional or General Manager to manage and maintain the golf range and instruction area. Ensures consistency of quality service in lessons and work to generate maximum revenue in lessons, club fitting and program equipment sales.
College Golf Coaches
A College Golf Coach is in charge of directing and supervising the Collegiate Golf Team. Providing the students at the accredited college, university or junior college, with instruction and guidance in the game of golf.
Golf Clinicians
Golf Clinicians are individuals who make a living doing golf shows or clinics. This individual is not necessarily associated with a golf facility.
Course Superintendents
The Course Superintendent provides support and oversees the maintenance, upkeep, operation and management of the golf course. Keeping the course well-maintained for a pleasurable playing experience for the patron.
Merchandise Representatives / Sales Executive
Works with one or more golf manufacturer or distributor to assist in the wholesale and distribution of merchandise and golf-related supplies to local golf courses, retail chains or any other golf outlet.
Tournament Directors
The Tournament Director handles all aspects of tournament operation including such items as scheduling, marketing, course set-up, rules officials, starters and volunteer recruitment. The Tournament Director coordinates golf events for businesses, organizations or associations.
Rules Officials
The Rules Officials provides officiating services for golf associations, tours and events. The Rules Officials assist with governing play to ensure everything is done in accordance with the rules.
Teaching Professional
The Teaching Professional will provide instruction in private lessons and group clinics. The Teaching Professional assists in the development and implementation of the golf instruction program at the golf club. Market the instruction programs to new and existing players.
