Professional Golf Tours

Practice makes perfect, and PGCC ensures that you work on your game seven days a week. After improving their game, our students have had the opportunity to pursue their dreams of playing professional golf. Here is a brief overview of some of the professional golf tours around the world:

• PGA Tour

  The Professional Golf Association Tour is an organization that runs the main professional golf tournaments played within the United States and North America. It’s a membership organization of professional golfers aimed to expand the game of golf and grow opportunities for players both domestically and internationally, while upholding the integrity of the game.

• Web.com Tour

  The developmental tour for the PGA Tour for professional golfers who have yet to earn their PGA Tour card from Qualifying School or have qualified but were unsuccessful in earning enough money to stay at that level. The top 25 money list players on the Web.com tour are granted PGA membership for the following season.

• LPGA Tour

  The Ladies Professional Golf Association is the world’s leading professional golf organization for women. The LPGA Tour is comprised of tournaments held primarily within the United States, with 5 annual major championships.

• Symetra Tour

  Known as “The Road to the LPGA” the Symetra Tour is the official developmental tour for the LPGA. It is open to both professionals and qualifier amateurs. The top 10 players on the money list from the Symetra Tour are granted LPGA membership for the following year.



• Mackenzie Tour – PGA Tour Canada

  The leading tour for men’s professional golf in Canada. Many aspiring professionals from across the globe participate in the PGA Tour Canada as it provides an access point to the PGA Tour. The top 5 players on the PGA Tour Canada Order of Merit earn Web.com Tour cards. In November 2012 the U.S. PGA Tour took over operation and the organization was renamed to the PGA Tour Canada. In 2015 Mackenzie Investments became the tour’s umbrella sponsor and the tour was named Mackenzie Tour – PGA Tour Canada.

• European Tour

  The PGA European Tour is the primary tour for professional golfers in Europe. Their goal is to administer professional golf tournaments that offer their members profitable prizes and the ability to have a sustainable income by playing tournaments. Most events are played in Western Europe with the larger prize money events being played in the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Spain and Germany. The PGA European Tour is also a leading partner for the Ryder Cup Europe, along with the PGA of Great Britain and Ireland.

• Challenge Tour

  The Challenge Tour is the developmental tour for professional golfers seeking to make it to the European Tour. Organized by the PGA European Tour the Challenge Tour provides hopeful professional golfers an opportunity to earn their way onto the European Tour. The top 20 players each year are granted a promotion to the European Tour.

• Asian Tour

  The Asian Tour is the premier men’s professional golf tour in Asia (except Japan which has its own tour). It is the official regional sanctioning body for professional golf in Asia with the mission to expand tournament golf to substantially enhance the careers of its members, thereby developing and growing golf in Asia while staying committed to the integrity of the game. It is the only recognized pan-Asian professional golf tour in Asia through its membership of the International Federation of PGA Tours, providing its events with Official World Ranking status. Participating countries include: Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Mauritius, Philippines, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam

• Asian Development Tour

  Launched in 2010 the Asian Development Tour (ADT) offers professional golfers in Asia a path to get onto the Asian Tour, which sanctions the developmental tour. The top five players on the ADT at the end of the season earn their Asian Tour cards for the next season.



• Professional Golf Tour of India

  Based in India, The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), is a professional golf tour for men within the nation. The PGTI tour was formed in 2006 and serves as a stepping stone into the higher-level tours like the Asian Tour. Many Indian players have joined the Asian Tour, while a some have gone on to compete in the leading tours, the European Tour and the PGA Tour.

• PGM Tour (Professional Golf of Malaysia)

  Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) was founded in August 2010 with the objective to promote golf, contribute towards its growth and help professional golfers in Malaysia enhance their skills. The PGM tour hosts a series of annual golf tournaments both individually and in partnership with the Asian Development Tour and the ASEAN PGA Tour.

• ASEAN PGA Tour

  The ASEAN PGA Tour was launched in 2007 with the aim of giving better playing opportunities to professional golfers from the 10 member countries in ASEAN, Association of Southeast Asian Nations. The tour is made up of aspiring golfers and seasoned professionals who needed more chances to play.

• Korean Tour

  Men’s professional golf tour run by the Korea Professional Golfers’ Association (KPGA) of South Korea. The governing body and representative group of Korean professional golfers that organizes and sanctions professional tournaments. The KPGA tour serves as a starting point for players to move on to larger professional tours such as the Asian Tour, Japan Golf Tour, and even the PGA Tour or European Tour.

• Japan Golf Tour

  The Japan Golf Tour is the prominent golf tour for professional golfers in Japan, however players from many countries participate. The tour is run by the Japan Golf Tour Organization. The Japan Golf Tour has the third highest yearly prize fund for male professional golfers, excluding seniors, behind the PGA Tour and the European Tour.

• Japan Challenge Tour

  The Japan Challenge Tour is a developmental golf tour which offers tournaments for aspiring professional golfers. Through the Japan Challenge Tour well performing golfers will be able to earn a spot on the Japan Golf Tour. Like the Japan Golf Tour the Japan Challenge Tour is run and overseen by the Japan Golf Tour Organization.
